April 15: Fees & Forms in the mail

June 6: Camp meeting at Stake Center 6:30-8:00 p.m.

June 22-25: YW CAMP 2010: Sing Praise!

Dear Young Women Leaders and Camp Directors:

In an effort to lighten the responsibilities you carry for the young

women in our stake, we have decided that no pre-camp activities will

occur prior to June 6, 2010 @ 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. On this date we

will hold a meeting to brief camp directors on their duties at camp.

The skit, flag, and certification requirements will all occur at camp.

Skits will be done with props that each ward/branch brings to camp

for the purpose of a live skit. Flags will be made with materials and

supplies provided for you upon arrival at camp. All certification

achievement will be incorporated into the scheduled camp hours.

There will be time allotted during camp to prepare each of these

activities for presentation and learning.

Please help facilitate the ideas and production of the flag and skit, but

let the young women have the experience of planning, preparing and

creating them. You may begin work on your skit, flag or certification

prior to camp if you choose, but know that this is not necessary and

will each be included as part of the 4-day experience at Camp Misty

Mount.

January Presidency Newsletter

Hello Young Women Leaders of the Washington DC Stake and Happy New Year!

This is our first official presidency newsletter for our new blog. A big thank you to Kelly Miller for setting this up. If you have any ideas, please send them on to her!
I have thought a lot about what to say in this our first official newsletter, and that's why it's already Jan. 16. My thoughts have led me to one piece of advice, taken from President Uchtdorf when he discussed how to move a piano; "stand close together and lift where you stand". I had quite a heavy load this month with many preparations and decisions to be made on firesides, Kirtland, dances, camp, and preparing for ward conferences. When I prayed for help and expressed that my plate was a little full, I got a clear impression that I was trying to move a piano alone for no reason. I have in place (after several months!) a wonderful presidency and I need to stand close to them and lift where I stand. It has worked for me and I thought I would urge you to work well together, have fun together, help each other out with the responsibilities, speak positively to each other, and pray together. May the Lord bless you in your efforts to strengthen our young women. I appreciate the opportunity to work with you and hope we can be a support.
