Youth fireside on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 7:00 pm @ the Stake Center
President Foulger and other Stake Leaders will present counsel and answer questions pertaining to standards.
Please encourage your youth to attend.
We feel that a Stake Standards night is important to have again, though it may seem like a repeat.

*In Alma 37:35 we are told our youth need to learn wisdom, and we hope they will do so on Jan. 9. If there is any topic you as ward leaders feel we need to address, please make suggestions.

Why are we going to Kirtland?

Elder M. Russell Ballard stated,

“It is often said that Kirtland is one of the least understood periods in Church history. Kirtland is truly a holy ground of this dispensation. The Church basks in the light of revelation today to a great extent because of the great Pentecostal outpouring that Joseph and the Saints received in Kirtland. The heavens were literally opened to hundreds of our early Saints there.”

April Presidency Newsletter

Let Our Light Shine

"By the way we live the gospel, we reflect [the Savior's] light. Our example will have a powerful effect for good on the earth. 'Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations' (D&C 115:5) is a call to each of us. Sister Dalton states, “It is a call to move to higher ground. It is a call to leadership—to lead out in decency, purity, modesty, and holiness. It is a call to share this light with others. It is time to 'arise and shine forth."

Daily consistent things we do will strengthen us to be a leader and an example—daily prayer, scripture study, obedience, and service to others. As we do these things, we will grow closer to the Savior and become more and more like Him. As we do this and listen and follow the Holy Ghost we will be guided to those who need us and our light in their lives. May we all lead with strength, courage and love.

We love all of you and the important work and role you are in each of the young women’s lives. May the lord bless all of us in our efforts. With much love and admiration,

Sister Kelley Miller

March 2010 Presidency Letter

Dearest YW Leaders,

I served as YW President in the Kensington Ward for 2 years. For most of the time I felt frazzled, discouraged, out of my league, and wondered if I was making a difference. So I was really surprised when my daughter commented one day "You were so happy when you were YW President~ It was the happiest time of your life!" From her perspective, I was busy, involved, serving and thinking of others. When I look back now, I can see she was right. It was a choice time of my life.

Does this time feel like "the happiest time of your life?" It may not feel that way right now, but as you lose yourself in the service of God and others, you will look back on all the sacrifices you made and feel joy. I promise that you will be blessed in overcoming the challenges. We can't lose with the Savior as our Leader. He loves you and each of the YW so dearly.

Thank you for all you are doing. The Lord is pleased with your service. I am in awe of your devotion and dedication to our beautiful YW as I have visited wards and seen many of you at Stake events. So dear sisters : "Let us cheerfully do all things that lie within our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance to see the salvation of God and for His arm to be revealed." D&C 123:17.

I love you! We can accomplish all things through Christ who strengthens us.

February Presidency Newsletter

Dear Sisters,

Everything we do as YW leaders should be to invite our Young Women to “Come unto Christ”. That might be through feeling His love and learning how to love; learning His attributes through the YW values; learning to serve as He did; learning to feel His spirit through the scriptures and prayer.

What is our purpose as Young Women leaders? I believe it is to invite our Young Women to come unto Christ - to help them receive the truths of the restored gospel including: faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, enjoying the Spirit of the Holy Ghost through obedience and righteous living, to be valiant and righteous servants of God, so they can make and keep sacred covenants in the temple and receive God’s greatest blessings for them...exaltation

Sister Dibb said, “an important part of the Personal Progress program is that it invites young women to go to the scriptures and study value-related topics such as faith and integrity...We hope that their testimony grows in that respect and that they feel the Spirit."

We have a responsibility to help each daughter of God to understand why we teach what we do so they will be able to fulfill their divine potential. Our calling is to bless the lives of each of these YW and help them grow in faith and gain their own testimonies. May everything we do point the girls towards our Savior, Jesus Christ and his teachings.

Let’s not get so caught up in the minute details that we forget to focus on our purpose.

May the Lord bless you as you help the Young Women find their testimonies and their love of the Savior.

June 22-25: YW CAMP 2010: Sing Praise!

Dear Young Women Leaders and Camp Directors:

In an effort to lighten the responsibilities you carry for the young

women in our stake, we have decided that no pre-camp activities will

occur prior to June 6, 2010 @ 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. On this date we

will hold a meeting to brief camp directors on their duties at camp.

The skit, flag, and certification requirements will all occur at camp.

Skits will be done with props that each ward/branch brings to camp

for the purpose of a live skit. Flags will be made with materials and

supplies provided for you upon arrival at camp. All certification

achievement will be incorporated into the scheduled camp hours.

There will be time allotted during camp to prepare each of these

activities for presentation and learning.

Please help facilitate the ideas and production of the flag and skit, but

let the young women have the experience of planning, preparing and

creating them. You may begin work on your skit, flag or certification

prior to camp if you choose, but know that this is not necessary and

will each be included as part of the 4-day experience at Camp Misty

Mount.
